Braised Cabbage
Simple, delicious braised cabbage recipe
INGREDIENTS
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium carrot
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil (or oilve oil)
- 2 lbs of white cabbage
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- Cilantro or parsley to garnish (optional)
HOW TO MAKE IT
- Finely mince onion.
- Grate carrot on vegetable shredder.
- Heat oil in skillet; add finely minced onion and carrot and saute for approximately 5 minutes.
- Chop cabbage into fine pieces.
- Cover pan with lid and braise for about 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, or cook until golden in colour.
- Add tomato paste, salt and ground black pepper; braise for another 5 minutes or so.
- Serve warm on it’s own, or garnish with cilantro or parsley.
